Idea
Dance brought to you! You are sitting or standing on a bus stop on Germantown avenue waiting for the 23 to take you to center city and while you wait there is a poster with a QR code created by a local visual artist of the specific Philadelphia neighborhood where you wait. The posters capture the culture, community, and vibrant life of several different locations along the route. You scan the code and now you are transformed and surrounded by local dancers moving to the sounds of your location and utilizing your surrounding as their stage. Whether it be the stop on Schoolhouse Lane next to the market square park in the Germantown neighborhood. It could also be the stop on the corner of My Airy Ave by Representative Chris Rabb’s office. Let’s not forget the wonderful smells of Max’s on Broad and Germantown Ave in the Tioga neighborhood. There is also the corner of Germantown Ave & Huntingdon St short walk from Taller Puertorriqueño and the corazón de la Comunidad Latina (the heart of the LatinX community in Philadelphia. Each dance is created by a local Philly dancer. The dance is choreographed to relate to its surroundings and filmed on location. I Christina Castro- Tauser a choreographer, dancer, collaborator, teaching Artist, frequent rider of the 23 Septa Bus, and resident of Mt Airy Neighborhood would curate a virtual show that makes your wait for the 23 a performance stage, cultural experience, and Philly neighborhood showcase! We will bring art to you because it’s a necessary element of understanding our surroundings, the places we visit, and our possibility to work together to strengthen and showcase the beauty of Philadelphia. The dances will highlight the Salsa and bomba of the area, the Hip Hop found in the area, and the Ballet and Modern Dancer and companies who live and work along the 23 Sept bus route. This Idea can make your daily routine a new, mindful and fulfilling art experience,
